Most popular decorating trends on Instagram in 2021
One of our favourite things about Christmas is seeing how our customers bring Christmas to life in their homes. We love seeing the creations on social media, and we are looking back to see what was popular last year and if we think the trend will continue. These décor trends have been decided by looking at a number of things to determine what was popular on social media, particularly Instagram, in 2021.
1. White décor
Recent research has revealed that White décor was the most Instagrammable interior trend for Christmas 2021. Using white Christmas décor creates a light and airy room, full of dimension and depth. White decorations have become increasingly popular over recent years with trends like minimalism and Scandinavian mean more and more people are using white decorations as their primary Christmas colour.
2. Pastel shades
Pastel shades were also a popular addition to Christmas 2021. While usually reserved for Easter, the use of baby blues, pale green, lilacs and blush pinks, combined with subtle golds and silvers, can make for a lighter, brighter and more unusual festive palette.
3. White Christmas trees
We may have already spoken about white décor, and yes, technically white Christmas trees come under that trend. However, in 2021 white Christmas trees were so popular we thought they should be in their own category. White Christmas trees were the popular holiday trend across Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok in the 2021 season, according to a recent study that compiled holiday data from each platform. Whether you opt for a white tinsel tree or go with the snowy look of a flocked Christmas tree, the white backdrop will make your ornaments pop.
4. Sustainable Christmas
Christmas preparations will soon be in full swing, but whilst it is a unique and special time of the year, it is not always the most environmentally friendly. Each year we are seeing more and more sustainable décor trends, and in 2021 it was no different. All over social media we were inspired by sustainable décor photos and videos.
